What is a Sliding Scale?

The basic economic concept of sliding scale is: people pay what they are honestly able.

It provides access to a service based on your financial circumstance.

This pricing model is built on trust, equity, and community care.

I trust you to be honest in your assessment of your economic reality.

Why?

We live in a world with massive wealth inequity.

Implementing a sliding scale is my attempt at providing low cost bodywork to a community with varying means.

It is in no way perfect but it is what I am able to offer.

I understand that even the low end of my sliding scale may still be a barrier for some clients.

I am happy to discuss a lower rate as needed and when my funds allow.

How do I know what to pay?

Talking about money can be scary because it means we need to examine our own economic experience.

I appreciate you taking the time to understand my pricing and pay honestly.

Below is a chart to better help you examine where you may fall along the scale. There is no exact math to tell you exactly where to pay but rather information for you to consider.

Please know that you can pay anywhere along the scale.

Even paying $10 over the midpoint provides more support for low cost bodywork.

My sliding scale has been largely based off of the work of Alexis J. Cunningfolk.
